Bobby Kennedy for President tracks how Kennedy asserted himself despite his brother’s shadow before he was assassinated in June 1968 The year is 2020. With the US presidential election fast approaching, a leading contender for the Democratic nomination takes the stage in front of thousands of supporters and wows them with the snappy soundbite: “My favorite poet was Aeschylus.” Such erudition would be hard to imagine today when the most sophisticated stump speech coming from the current incumbent of the White House is “CNN sucks!”.
