Chef Basil Hadjis, well known in Cedar Rapids for his GREEK food and friendly persona, first at his Vernon Inn restaurant and more recently at the Mount Vernon Road Hy-Vee, died Tuesday at age 62. His father Stavros, who immigrated to Iowa from Greece, first opened the Vernon Inn in 1976.
